Currie & Brown is currently looking for a senior project controls engineer/scheduler for our San Francisco, CA office. The successful candidate will support project leaders in generating a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.


Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:


§  Developing and adhering to the project controls plan

§  Coordinating, leading, supervising and monitoring the project controls activities of contractors and other involved parties

§  Managing the interface for project controls activities to all required departments involved in the project (eg finance, procurement) and to the local and the architect/engineers and construction contractors

§  Monitoring the practicability and benefits of the project controls process and tools and suggesting improvements

§  Managing the execution of the project controls plan 

§  Implementing project controls procedures and systems, project controls training and workshops for project management team and/or contractor 

§  Reviewing GC GMP bids as member of the bid review team 

§  Establishing and maintaining work breakdown structures and project cost ledgers

§  Implementing cost control, forecasting and cashflow 

§  Monitoring cost performance, detecting and understanding variances from the budget 

§  Producing accurate and unbiased cost forecasts at a detailed and summary level 

§  Identifying and ensuring early warning of adverse cost trends such that corrective actions may be taken 

§  Developing, implementing and executing change management 

§  Incorporating changes to the scope, schedule and cost into reporting 

§  Leading/facilitating risk workshops, managing logs and mitigation plans 

§  Providing input to project reports, including project monthly reports

§  Managing cost and schedule data in Unifier 

§  Assisting in the implementation of project financial accounting procedures and systems 

§  Overseeing the interfaces between the project financial accountant and the project team/contractors as required

§  Developing, maintaining and tracking the master schedule in P6 according to the WBS guidelines

§  Integrating vendor schedules into master schedule 

§  Ensuring sufficient level of detail, resource loading as well as appropriate earned value analysis

§  Undertaking schedule analysis with respect to critical path analysis, float analysis and proposing mitigation plans

§  Developing customized schedule reports as per project needs 




§  BS in engineering/construction management or equivalent

§  A minimum of 8 to 15 years’ capital project management experience; biopharmaceutical experience an advantage

§  Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) 

§  Good working knowledge of Primavera P6, SAP and Unifier

§  Strong knowledge and experience in various aspects of project controls, planning/scheduling, progress measurement and forecasting/reporting

§  Good interpersonal, collaboration, organization and prioritization skills

§  Self-directed with ability to execute work accurately, handle multiple priorities and analyze reports and trend activities

§  Well-organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute

§  A team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful and flexible
