    Currie & Brown is currently looking for a senior construction contracts manager for our Seattle, WA office. Responsibilities will include strategic sourcing, supplier engagement, contract strategy and negotiations and commercial management for categories including general contractors, architect and engineering, commissioning, professional services and other construction services categories

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

     

    • Working with senior stakeholders to develop category sourcing strategies
    • Leading supplier engagement including annual supplier scorecards, reviews, ongoing activities to ensure two-way dialogue, and notice/claim resolution
    • Establishing consistent and efficient contracting and supplier selection methods
    • Developing project contract strategies
    • Using industry expertise to ensure clear, concise and enforceable contract documents
    • Leading contract negotiations for master agreements and project-specific agreements
    • Supporting site construction teams in the proactive management of commercial risks
    • Guiding the contractual claims process
    • Ensuring compliance with corporate fiscal, legal, environmental and risk management policies in order to minimize and limit corporate liability, manage risk and optimize value
    • Supporting data center business processes as needed, including stage gate, lean process development, SOX and anti-corruption/anti-bribery compliance
    • Leading a team of vendors in project contract execution and contract administration

     

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

     

    • A minimum of ten years’ postgraduate construction/supply chain/procurement experience, preferably in technology/infrastructure/industrial construction in either contractor or owner organizations
    • Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related discipline, MBA or JD an advantage 
    • Strong commercial understanding and experience of driving value on key categories (AE, GC, and other construction services suppliers cost structures)
    • Knowledge of industry and experience of managing a variety of project delivery methods
    • Ability to lead a project team in defining risk and developing the appropriate contracting and compensation approach
    • Demonstrable experience in contract development and contract negotiations
    • Firm understanding and use/enforcement of contract legal principles
    • Ability to work as trusted advisor on category sourcing strategies and contract management for a variety of groups including project managers, engineers, architects, cost teams and other owner-personnel
    • Ability to work well in cross-functional teams to define and develop lean processes
    • Experience on large-scale projects - sourcing, managing and administering contracts over $25 million preferable
    • Experience of leading risk analysis of projects and contracts preferable
